What to write about when you don't know what to write about?

2 minutes read

That’s the question that popped into my head when I thought about starting a blog, and it became my first topic.

Writing is a brilliant skill and I think everyone should do it. I hesitated. I wasn’t sure what to write about, like many beginners. But the hesitation itself turned out to be the answer.

When you don’t know what to write about, why not write just about that?

Here’s the thing: sometimes, the problem itself is the best topic. This approach works in other aspects of life too. Just think about conversations. When you don’t know what to say to a friend or colleague, how about just admitting it: “I’m not sure what to say now”. This might lead to an interesting and honest conversation.

We often tend to look for solutions elsewhere, but they’re often right in front of us. I suggest you just start it, even when you’re unsure, action leads to clarity. That’s how I ended up writing this post. It must be far from perfect, but it’s here.

If you’re stuck, try writing about the problem itself—just like I did. You might be surprised how it works out.

Looking back on my life, I’ve realized I rarely knew exactly what to do — what to say, what to write, or what path to take after school. An that’s okay. Uncertainty is not a failure; it’s a natural part of learning and growing.

I encourage you to start doing whatever you’re thinking about. It’s worth it.
